Japanese tetsubin, the iron teapot, with a wrapped jute handle. Two finishes, dark grey, beige. Pour from it, leave it on the table, watch the iron darken with use the way a cast iron pan darkens with seasoning.
The Tetsuki Cast Iron Teapot is a stovetop-safe cast iron teapot with an embossed geometric pattern and a jute-wrapped arched handle. 27 oz capacity, painted finish in charcoal grey, removable lid with knob.
The teapot that ages with you.
Cast iron rewards patience. Season it lightly, dry it completely, and it will outlast most kitchen companions.
Can I heat this directly on the stove?
Yes. This is a true tetsubin-style teapot, designed for direct heat. Boil water in it, steep tea leaves in it, or preheat it before adding brewed tea.
Does it come with an infuser?
No. You can drop loose leaves directly into the pot (traditional method), or use a separate basket infuser. The wide spout pours clean, but a small mesh strainer at the cup helps catch stray leaves.
How much tea does it brew?
27 oz, about three and a half standard mugs, or five small tea cups. It is sized for a quiet afternoon, not a dinner party.
Why no soap?
Cast iron is porous. Soap seeps into the surface and lingers, altering the taste of the next brew. A firm rinse with warm water and a soft brush removes tannins and oils without stripping the protective seasoning layer.
Can I use it on induction?
No. The painted finish and jute wrapping are not compatible with induction cooktops. Use gas or electric stovetops only.
